🎸 Beginner Guitarists:

If you use the open F chord, you may want to try playing the alternative G chord (xx5433) - same finger positions as an open F chord + 2 frets - starting on the 3rd fret (see charts).

F Major G Major-V2

On the first 2 lines of each verse you can play | Dm/C - C | instead of | Dm - C | which is more in keeping with the song. Beginners may find this a little difficult to play at first due to the rapid chord changes in succession, but give it a try.

Dm/C C Major

Once you get used to the subtle up/down movement of the index finger on strings 1 & 2, and the on/off movement of the pinkie - both in regular succession, it becomes very easy to play.

🎶 It looks like this on the song sheet:

   Dm/C C Dm/C C Dm/C C Dm/C C
1. Ly-in’ in my bed I hear the clock tick and think of you
   Dm/C C Dm/C C Dm/C C Dm/C C
Caught up in cir - cles Con - fu - sion is noth-ing new

🎶 The same applies to the first 2 lines of verses 2 and 3.
